I was trying for 10, but couldn't come up with others, please chime in if you have any suggestions; In no particular order: - Proofread or at least double check the document before printing!
- Print double sided (duh!)
- Check to see if you can print in a draft form, many times this is just as good as higher quality
- Don't make extra copies unless needed
- Email the document, if you don't want people to be able to edit it, turn it into a pdf
- If you are using a color printer, see if your printer has the option to dectect color. If it does, use it on your color documents that are mixed with black and white pages.
- If your last page of printing is short, try adjusting the format or margins to condense the document

If you saw my post on the forum board, you will see I just accepted a position to the CEO of our company. I ran into my first challenge and decided to share what the issue was and how I solved it. I will post future problems problems and well. (as they come up!) Problem: I had to pick up a box at the FedEx office, that required a signature of someone over 21. Ok, I am over 21! The problem was the package went to my bosses house and no one was going to be home (thus, why I went to the FedEx office). I appears you have to have a valid ID WITH the address the package is addressed to. I showed my business card, I tried to get them to call my boss, the lady would not release it to me. Solution: I had to wait for the next day (no one would be at my bosses house again, so I had to trek back over to the Fedex off). I ended up calling FedEx and explaining the situation. We had a "trace" put on the package and my boss got on the phone (just for one minute) and told the FedEx, yes she can pick it up. I took the confirmation number just to be safe. To be double sure I could pick it up, I called the company who shipped the product and they also put a release on it. Fun fun fun!

Ok, these are ways to impress my boss. They may or may not work to impress yours. If you have different ways to impress a boss, why not share and post below! 5. Arrive early to work. My boss likes that, it earns brownie points. Plus he has a personal pet peeve about being late. 4. Don't complain about situations, bring him solutions to obstacles. (He is big into looking at things with a proactive view) 3. Do not gossip. (Enough said) 2. Listen. (Listen and undestand instructions so you don't have to be told twice and that you actually understand a situation or instructions.) 1. Do something extra without being asked to. This is number one! What about yours?

Today was one of those wierd days I just noticed smells. Maybe I was a bit sensitive today. So with that small amount of background, here are my top 5 smells you don't want in the office. I had them ALL today. Judging which one is worse than the other was hard, but for today this is the order! 5. Bad breath of a co worker After lunch - (this is 5 because it isnt always the person fault) 4. Stinky lunches (today someone a very nasty smelling tuna casserole, it was like burnt rotten tuna.. ewwww) 3. Chain smoker, after a smoke break. (my apologies to the smokers who read that, but today it got to me) 2. Receptionist who takes a bath in cheap perfume. <Gag!> 1. BO from the guy you just can't say.. "Can I buy you an anti persperant" This one person, works out at lunch and doesn't shower after, mornings are fine, after...repulsive. You can be OUTSIDE his cubicle and still smell him. It has been awhile. I was reading some of the articles on DeskDemon about dressing for the job. So here are my top 10 outfits for the job. I wish I had pictures! I am going to have to cut it down this time to the top five. I have tons of clothes I just wear, but not quite 10 that I go, that looks GOOD in! (I need to go shoppin') So here (if you can picture them in your mind) are my top 5 outfits. If I try to get any message across it is, you can look cute, wear different type of outfits, but still look professional. If you fee you are bland, try accessories! 5 This really sounds tacky but it looks nice. For the most part I wear skirts to work. I like to dress to look good. If YOU feel like you look good, it shows to others. This outfit is purple. I know it sounds funny, but it is a nice match. It is a deep dark purple skirt that has a very think dark purple not quite jacket but light cotton shirt that would go over a cute .. white, gray, off white, black, blouse. This is the hardest visual to try and type out. 4. My dark blue business suit. Yes it is a pencil skirt but the jacket has a really low button cut and is somewhat double breasted. I cant explain but it is very cute. The skirt goes just above the knee, which gives for a much thinner look then any dress that goes below the knee. Think traditional. 3. I admit it, I love my casual Friday jeans. I wonder if other companies still do casual Fridays. I dress up the jeans with a very nice shirt (never a t-shirt unless it is a clean up day) and some jewerly/accessories. I never wear faded jeans. 2. Believe it or not it is some twead pants, that I wear with some black flats, a very warm cashmere (not quite tan) sweater, but what makes this outfit is the scarf that keeps me warm but also accents the outfit very well. My top two go from the coldest weather to the hottest! 1. My yellow and white summer dress that is cute, cool and adorable, and very appropriate for work. It is also great for those days it is really hot outside.

Sometimes the person you are sending a document doesn't have the same font as you used in your document to make sure that the fonts in your document can be used by others, you will have to embed those fonts. Here is how to change the configuration to embed your fonts: - Click the Office button and then click Word Options.
- MS Word opens the Word Options dialog box.
- On the left side of the dialog box click Save.
- Make sure the Embed Fonts in the File check box is selected.
- To save on your file size, if you will be using only a small number of characters in a particular font (maybe a quote, or one word), choose the Embed Only the Characters Used in the Document check box.
- To save space in the document, choose the Do Not Embed Common System Fonts check box.
- Click on OK.
- Work with your document as normal.
Embedding fonts will increase the size of your file (as the font file is built in) In addition be aware not all fonts are embeddable, you may have to change the font. I am double posting this on the Group Microsoft Office Tips as well.

Disclaimer, I am not in the health profession, not a personal trainer, not a nutritionist, these are just my personal experience in losing 40 pounds and keeping it off for 2 years.
10. Commit to exercise some everyday. Even if it is taking stairs, walking at lunch, or the gym.
9. Realize it isn't easy to lose weight and there will be days you don't feel like eating right or exercising.
8. Get as much extra activity in, take the stairs, park a ways a way or don't take a car at all to do errands.
7. Remember if you eat a candy bar or have that donut in the breakroom, it takes one minute to eat it and probably more than an hour to burn it off exercising.
6. Cardio is good, but muscles burns more calories (even when just sitting there) so get some strength training in.
5. Eat smaller meals throughout the day. This keeps the metabolism up. Most experts say to get 5 small meals a day, I added a fruit after dinner. Basically it is a small breakfast, protein snack such as cheese or yogart, small lunch another snack, then dinner. Make sure you have your protein and carbs and don't forget your veggies and fruits.
4. Learn how to make your fattening recipe healthy. Get on the boards and experiment. Learn how to use different ingredients to achieve the same end taste. This helped me a lot.
3. You will hit a plateau. Just keep it up, you are probably still losing inches.
2. Look at what you are eating and see if there are any hidden calories that are sabotaging your efforts. Fruit drinks can be very high in calories.. etc.
1. Drink LOTS of water (80oz a day) This amazed me, when I drank the water I lost when I didnt, I stayed the same weight.
