I was privileged to see the Olympic Torch carried by Lennox Lewis on the 22nd July at Danson Park, Bexley and then again by Patrick Kane on the 26th July at Trafalgar Square.
It was all exciting with a lot of preparation for the success of the games and the welcoming of so many people from abroad. Central London was busy especially the stations. There was more of a buzz in London and talk on the train about the golds Team GB secured. For me it was lovely to see people from all walks of life mingling together and the opportunity for most people in the UK to have a chance of seeing the torch or games.
On the 12th August I was at the Men's Olympic Marathon, Uganda's Stephen Kiprotich beat the Kenyan favourites Abel Kirui and Wilson Kipsang. What a run.....and the thrill of the atmosphere. Then came our inspiring Paralympians and the Olympic Parade!
So many deserve to be crowned Sports Personality of the Year. Who would you pick? I would like to see the bubbly Ellie Simmonds win the title. With the aftermath, do you find that no one talks to each other on the train and that we are back to our private reserved selves?
